A bone to pick

Bone furniture and decorations have been used for hundreds of years across different cultures. From traditional Islamic or Indian motifs to more geometric art deco designs, the art of bone inlay continues to be a popular one.

The perfect way to add pattern, texture and even colour - these work well as a statement piece. Bone pieces are often monochromatic which keeps them classic but still "personality pieces" that will be talking points in any room!

We have recently ordered a bunch of new bone items including bedsides, stools, cabinets and mirrors and we can't wait to get these pieces out on our floor for you to view. These are currently online in our catalogue and will be arriving in store in approximately 4 weeks time.

Bonaldo at the Salone del Mobile 2019

Bonaldo, one of our favourite premium Italian brands presented their new collection at the Salone del Mobile this year and we are in love! With new designs and also new interpretations of some of their classic designs, Bonaldo is always about making a design statement in a contemporary yet timeless way.

Their stall featured walnuts wood, ceramic marble, warm wood details (in various tones of brass, gold and copper) and natural colours such as blues and greens, unexpectedly contrasted with pops of coral pink, rust orange and mustard yellow.

In regards to accessories, nature again was a consistent theme with plants being used as accessories both in their natural form on tables and floors, but also in the form of wallpaper. Reference to nature was also seen in some of their furniture pieces such as the Leaf side table (shaped like a leaf), Art dining table with its tree-like base, and Corallo chair with its coral-inspired frame (and colouring).
